Rocca dei Rossi di San Secondo Costruita fra XIV e XV secolo, diviene sfarzosa residenza nobiliare nel Rinascimento. La corte raggiunge l'apice della sua raffinatezza con Pier Maria II Rossi, personaggio straordinario dall'intelligenza eclettica. Sotto i governi di Troilo I, Pier Maria III e Troilo II gli interventi architettonici e decorativi equiparano la sontuosità della Rocca alle residenze medicee e gonzaghesche di Firenze e Mantova. Il grandioso ciclo di affreschi sulle Gesta Rossiane nella grande sala d'onore celebra ancora oggi la potenza del nobile Casato; suggestivo ed unico il racconto dell'Asino d'Oro di Apuleio in 17 riquadri; emozionanti i modelli mitologici e fabulistici. The court catches up the most magnificient moment of its refinement with Pier Maria II Rossi, extraordinary personage of rare eclectic cleverness. Under the governments of Troilo I, Pier Maria III and Troilo II the architectonic and decorative interventions make the fortress as beautiful as the Medici's and Gonzaga's residences of Florence and Mantova. The huge cycle of frescoes on the Gesta Rossiane in the great "d'onore" room still today celebrates the power of the Rossis; evocative and only the story of the Donkey of Gold of Apuleio in 17 panels; moving from mythological and fabulistic models. Castello di Montechiarugolo Costruito sui resti di un vecchio nucleo duecentesco distrutto nel 1313, il castello ha una configurazione quattrocentesca datagli da Guido Torelli, condottiero dei Visconti e insignito del feudo di Montechiarugolo nel 1406. Successivamente, nel corso del '500, fu Pomponio Torelli, umanista e letterato, a dargli nuovo splendore, chiamandovi artisti e pittori, e accogliendo ospiti illustri come Papa Paolo III e il re di Francia Francesco I. La possente struttura merlata è collegata all'esterno da un ponte levatoio. Dal cortile interno si accede alle splendide sale con affreschi cinquecenteschi e a un magnifico loggiato che consente la vista su tutto il medio corso dell'Enza. The noble family of the Sanvitale rules it incontestably to 1313, when the guelph armies conquers and almost destroys it. After that, between the XVth and the XVIth century, it sees an interminable series of conflicts: the pope, the emperor and powerful families like the Visconti and the Este fight for its possession with histories of conspiration and betrayals. Nevertheless the fortress grows again every time out of its ruins so that today we can enjoy today its extremly suggestive and terrible beauty charged with its human and historical vicissitudes. Rocca Meli Lupi di Soragna Fatta edificare nel 1385 dai marchesi Bonifacio ed Antonio Lupi, feudatari di Soragna, la Rocca venne trasformata nel XVII secolo in splendida e fastosa residenza del Principi Meli Lupi, che ancor oggi ne sono proprietari e vi abitano. Citata come esempio più che unico del primo Barocco, le sue sale conservano mobili ed arredi di tale periodo, anche se non mancano importanti testimonianze di altre epoche. Assai interessanti sono le decorazioni a fresco ed i cicli pittorici di Nicolò dell'Abate, Cesare Baglione, Ferdinando e Francesco Galli Bibbiena. Annesso alla Rocca vi è un vasto Parco "all'inglese", con piante secolari, laghetto e statue settecentesche lungo i vialetti e negli spiazzi fra il verde. Castello di Torrechiara Costruito tra il 1448 e il 1460 da Pier Maria Rossi (1413-1482), è un esempio tra i più significativi e meglio conservati in Italia di architettura castellana. E' difeso da tre cerchia di mura e da quattro torri angolari che ne attestano la funzione difensiva, mentre la destinazione residenziale è provata dalla ricchezza degli affreschi a "Grottesche" di Cesare Baglione. Straordinaria, poi, la "camera d'oro", attribuita a Benedetto Bembo che narra la delicata storia d'amore tra Pier Maria e Bianca Pellegrini, sua amante, celebrando al contempo la potenza della casata attraverso la raffigurazione di tutti i castelli del feudo. Famous as one of the largest and best preserved castles of the region, it is remarkable for its wonderfully decorated rooms, richly painted by artists like Cesare Baglione and Girolamo Bembo. Unforgettable the extraordinary cycle of profane paintings in the Golden Room, inspired by the love between Pier Maria and Bianca Pellegrini. The castle is today propriety of the municipality.
